King of Jordan Prayed For His Dog

While Israel was brutally massacring Palestinians in Gaza, the inept and corrupt King Abdullah of Jordan was busy ignoring the suffering of the Palestinians and praying and lamenting the suffering of his pet dog. And was getting his dog treated at an Israeli veterinarian office of all places.

The Jordanian royal family’s dog was secretly rushed to Israel for treatment in the midst of Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday.

Relations between the royal palace in Amman and the Beit Dagan veterinary hospital have been good for many years now.

The Israeli medical team’s expertise has served Jordan a number of times, almost always under a heavy veil of secrecy, as per the royal court’s request.

During the fighting in the Gaza Strip, the Jordanians once again called on the Israeli veterinarians for help. King Abdullah and Queen Rania’s beloved dog had fallen ill.

The dog did not make it. Hundreds of Palestinians died during that time, but the King and his vapid Queen Rania did not notice as they were overwhelmed by the loss of their dog. But before you feel sorry for the dog, think about the characters he had to share his existence with. It was a blessing for him.

King Abdullah and Queen Rania, despite the love affair with them in the United States, are one of the most despised dynasties in the region. They have a well-crafted image of moderation and even liberalism in the United States, but that is far from the way events have been transpiring in Jordan. The American-educated King came to the throne with stated intentions of bring eventual democracy to Jordan, but civil society has grown more restrictive in recent years.

Since he came to power, King Abdullah has, perhaps unsurprisingly, exhibited a case of split personality in dealing with domestic and international audiences. On the one hand, the King would like to present himself as a moderate Arab statesman who strives to modernize his country by establishing strong ties with the open and secular western democracies, especially the United States. However, when dealing with the Jordanian public and its national representatives, he acts in an entirely different manner.

The King’s late father was in all effect a puppet of the United States who received C.I.A. kickbacks. Abdullah is equally dormant toward the United States in supporting policies that are detrimental to his people. And the King is a bigotry-supping divider. It was Abdullah who was the first Arab leader to incite hatred toward Shias by warning of a Shia crescent in the region. By try as he might, the King-on-Strings has no credibility with Arabs and he could not lead ducks let alone the Arab people.

His wife is equally annoying. Born to a wealthy Palestinian family established in Kuwait after being put to forced flight from their home in Palestine in 1948 by terrorist Israeli militias, she has a reputation for smug arrogance. But she is good in presenting a very friendly image. A regular at Bill Clinton’s narcissistic Clinton Initiative gatherings and a past guest on Oprah, the Queen is very well-established in the United States. She even was awarded by YouTube for her videos on bringing the divide between the world of Islam and the West. Her goals are admirable and I think she is a PR success for Middle Easterners in the West, but she is incredibly unoriginal and often vapid. Her language is the most bland, Hallmarkesque aptitudes. Further, she isn’t often speaking from her own grounded intellect. She has speech writers and a London PR firm behind her. But I’ll tell you why she irritates me, because when Israeli was massacring Palestinians in Gaza the Queen issued an inoffensive statement decrying the assault against “human dignity.” Human dignity? What the hell does that mean? As if some unknown entity is killing human beings but simply attacking human dignity. It is obvious why Queen Rania would not identify Israel and unequivocally attack its killing of Palestinians. It is because she knows it will cost her in the United States. It would undermine her image if she attacked Israel and shut doors in her face. Anyone who criticizes Israel in the United States pays a price. Even more so if when is an Arab, and an Arab Palestinian at that. Arabs are only accepted in the American establishment and humanized if the praise Israel or stay silent. Otherwise they are vilified. As the Angry Arab put it: “I understand your desperate attempt to sound poetic and profound, but the Israeli terrorist attacks are directed at the Palestinian population in Gaza, in case you have not heard. Human dignity: that is a safe way to express fake feelings without offending her Zionist benefactors in the US who invite her regularly and shower her with awards.” Queen Rania knows the rules of the game that she is so willingly to play that she will sell out her people and the truth. Talk about human dignity!
