The Connection between Corrupt Politicians and Olympics

By this time, it is pretty apparent that India in Olympics cannot be called a winner. The magical sub-continent of India might be a lot of things, but is surely nowhere up to the mark when the poor performance in Olympics and other games are considered.

Cricket; however is one form of sports, which is worshipped. In fact, you might go so far as to call India a nation of Bollywood and Cricket where millions of people simply worship both.

A Good Case in Point

India was once known for inventing the game of field hockey. Nevertheless, not many would want to agree on that anymore.

Why?

Because it has been so long since the men or women in the field have shown some mettle. Not that all of the blame should go on to the players alone, but more on that later. Yes, it is all justified that winners and losers keep changing.

The performance in other games are not increasing much either and there are some theories in that.

The New Verdict

Every Olympic season, a new theory is launched as to why India performs so badly in the games that takes place.

Some of the most established facts are of course poor infrastructural conditions. After all, it is no secret that India being a developing nation, brilliant facilities cannot be expected.

Another study had shown that India might have a huge population. However, this population cannot exactly be called healthy. In fact, a whole scenario of malnourished and people who simply battle the daily challenge of survival cannot in fact be paralleled.

The new theory covers social mobility. Yes, India is not well connected and yes many are hardly aware that what is really going on in the rest of the world, let alone sports.

Therefore, lack of so many things have pushed the process a notch.

The involvement of Corrupt Politicians

Aha! Here comes a subject, which will interest so many! After all, there is no need to even name the politicians who are completely corrupt. However, their role in Olympics is another drawback.

They are always busy filling their pockets and truly folks, when have we ever found good performers from affluent backgrounds?

Be it Maradona or Pele, none of them belong to backgrounds of money. However, that cannot work in India, since, unless the pocket is full, the performers cannot be chosen.

In addition, since there has been no change in the trend, there has been no addition in the number of medals!
