100 Bloody Acres
It’s a gory tale of Reg and Lindsay Morgan, who run a bone and blood fertilizer business, and gain success with the help of a secret ingredient, read human blood and body parts. They come across a girl and two guys whose car has broken down, as they’re on the way to a remote music festival. Does the trio manage to escape the blood thirsty brothers? Let Me In
Let Me In handles two subjects – adolescent sexuality and vampires, expertly, as the characters give flawless performances under the direction of Matt Reeves. Seething repression, yearning and melancholy sets the mood for the story. It’s one of those rare occasions when a remake holds its own against the original.
Maniac is a bloodfest remade for the new generation. It’s a story which will fill you disgust and terror, and make you experience the compulsive need of the killer to kill, as the story is told from his point of view. The gruesome manner of killing women and taking their scalps while still alive, is definitely not for the faint hearted.
Honeymoon
This movie is a science fiction horror movie combo. A newly married couple decides to go to a remote cabin for their honeymoon. Everything seems alright till the husband finds his wife running around in the woods, and then begins the horror.
The Witch
The witch, a terrifying tale of survivalof a woman in 17th century, is intense. It documents starvation, being sold as a slave, physical abuse by her mother and suffering the impious attentions from her brother, and bratty siblings. Add to that being suspected to be a witch and you have a chilling story which is bound to scare you.
The Strangers
It’s a story of a home invasion by some ruthless psychos who terrorize a couple, who come to stay in an isolated location, in the middle of nowhere. After watching this movie, you’ll silently swear never to go anywhere that isolated, and triple check your locks at night!
Paranormal Activity
At first sight, Paranormal Activity will let you use your imagination as nothing really happens, or so you think. But as the film progresses you’d be spell bound by the smooth transformation of every day mundane things into something that’s terrifying. By the end of it, you’re clutching your seat in horrifying anticipation. People have been known to scream full-throated at the many scary moments in the movie. This is the kind of movie which can actually give you insomnia.
The Babadook
The Babadook is considered to be one of the scariest movies out there. It features an unforgettable villain who manages to scare with a catchy rhyme. It’s immensely disturbing as you watch the villain who exploits the fears of his victims.
Black Swan
The Black Swan won accolades for Natalie Portman as she played the role of tortured prima ballerina to perfection. Her alter ego, the Black Swan is everything she’s not and the viewers are exposed to her madness and perfectionism.
Drag me to hell
A loan officer who refuses a loan extension is cursed by the woman she refuses the loan to, and is literally dragged through hell. The horror deepens gradually, and you get totally involved in this horror flick.
