5 cake recipes for little bakers

Little bakers

Believe it or not, children love cooking. For us cooking is a mundane and essential work, while for the kids its something related to fun and amusement. So what are you waiting for? Test the culinary skills of your children by giving them a chance to bake a cake. In other words, let your kids be creative and prepare a cake of their choice and enjoy it too. We have put together some cake recipes that your little baker can enjoy.

1. Critter shaped cakes

Let the kid select his favorite animal. Now bake a sheet cake using an instant cake mix. After the cake is baked, the animal shapes can be cut out individually and be placed on a large dish. You can then have your kid decorate the cake using sprinkles, licorice, gum drop candies, or anything else. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon with your little one?

2. Mucky mud pipes with juicy worms

The recipe for this cake is actually a classic one but has been modified to make it more interesting for the kids. The cake basically is a chocolate crust covered with chocolate sauce, nuts, gummy worms, and ice cream. To prepare the cake, start off with the bottom layer crust, like any other cake, but instead of neatly putting the other layers over it, have the kid lay any ingredient of his/her choice, in any order over the crust. The end result many times, is pleasantly surprising.

3. Scrumptious butterscotch haystacks

This one is comparatively easier to prepare. Butterscotch morsels, rich peanut butter, miniature marshmallows, and chowmein noodles are the only ingredients required. To prepare, melt the butterscotch first and then pour in the peanut butter and stir until its blended completely. Then, add in the marshmallows and chowmein noodles and stir the mixture subtly. Then arrange the mixture into little haystacks using a freezer paper lined sheet pan and refrigerate it. Your butterscotch haystacks are now ready to be served.

4. Lollie brownie cakes

To prepare one of these cakes, you have to prepare a brownie using any nuts of your choice first. Then have your little one pick a miniature chocolate bar of his/her choice. Melt this bar in a microwave oven and pour the result over the brownie. A simple method, but is sure to excite the child especially when it comes to picking the chocolate bar.

5. Sweet dessert pizza

Here is a dish that is both tasty and healthy; a perfect combination when it comes to feeding your family. To prepare this dish, you’ll need sugar crust made of cookie dough, fresh fruits, and softened cream cheese. Adding fresh fruits is a sure shot hit. First, make the base of this cake by baking up your cookie dough in a circular pizza pan. Then mix the cream cheese with some confectioner’s sugar and spread it over the base. The cake can then be decorated to be made to look like a real sweet pizza.
