The fact that the dress is made to reveal the body than hide it makes it a tricky deign to create. The fabric, cut and design, all have to fall in place to have a winning see through design. The final product has to be classy and aesthetic and not crass and cheap. Below are nine prominent faces who have committed grave blunders by stepping out in these fashion disasters.
1. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is well known for her outrageous dressing sense. She has sprung quite a few shockers in the past but nothing beats her ensemble at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York. The 25-year-old singer showed up for the event in a custom-made Mugler gown which covered a sheer bodysuit which she wore underneath. As the evening progressed, the Lady decided to shed off the gown and dance away the night in the sheer bodysuit, which revealed more than it covered. With just nipple covers and a G-string covering her modesty, the singer danced away the night. The more of ???see??? and less of ???dress??? was the tackiest sheer net ensemble ever put together.
2. Kate Moss
When we see her sprawled on the magazine covers, the supermodel is impeccably dressed. But Kate Moss proved that she can make poor choices in her outfit pick. She stepped out in the predominantly Muslim city of Istanbul, Turkey wearing nothing but a sheer polka dot maxi dress. Not only did she decide not to wear a bra, it also looked like she was wearing no underwear. She surely needs to take tips from veteran model Claudia Schiffer on ageing gracefully. Kate Moss is an example who shows that owning a fashion line is completely different from having some fashion sense. Surely, a model with her experience and repute knows better than to flaunt her assets in a country which is culturally conservative.
3. Uma Thurman
Actress Uma Thurman attracted quite a few startled stares after she arrived in a sheer outfit at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks. The mother of two left little to imagination in the couture Valentino gown which hugged her ample curves. The look is not usually associated with her and the 37-year-old should have perhaps opted for something more conservative to hide her ample curves.
4. Shannen Doherty
Shannen Doherty stepped out in a sheer LBD, which hinted at the lack of underwear beneath. She showed up at the at Flaunt Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Party and Annual Holiday Toy Drive in a little black dress that offered a generous view of her chest area and left nothing to the imagination. The buxom lady should have worn something that was not so snug around the chest area to avoid giving people an idea of her inner structure.
5. Lindsay Lohan
This isn???t the first time Lindsay Lohan has committed a fashion faux pas, the lady???s addiction to bad fashion sense is almost as bad as her other addictions. Lohan showed up at the MET Costume Institute Benefit Gala in a flowing black gown with a see through bodice. The dress which was otherwise quite presentable became tacky, thanks to the sheer bodice which offered an unobsructed view of what it meant to hide.
6. Cheryl Cole
The singer ushered in her 26th birthday in a risqué mesh dress. Cheryl Cole wore a plunging, sheer dress to celebrate her 26th birthday at a star-studded party last night. The former X Factor judge showed off her petit figure in a £4,000 fringed Alexander McQueen dress, with a plunging neckline. The plunging neckline along with the sheer fabric showed off the lady???s ample bosom. Although the dress had some pretty motifs and design, the shocking view upfront hogs up all the attention.
7. Nicole Kidman
The stunningly beautiful actress seldom gives occasion for criticism. She is mostly impeccably dressed and is known for her sound fashion sense. For the first time, Nicole Kidman turned up in an unflattering, see-through dress for the ARIA awards. She showed up along with her husband and was very soon seen wearing a coat to hide her modesty. The dress was extremely unflattering and did little to accentuate her lithe figure. Furthermore, it looked like it requires ironing to smoothen out the wrinkles.

She is no stranger to controversy – be it about her personal life or her dressing style. At times, Rihanna can even give Lady Gaga a run for her money. She was glad in a sheer little black dress whose strategically placed stripes left little to imagination. The varying shaded of black did little to hide the fact that she was wearing only nipple covers underneath. While the long sleeves and high neck are intended to give the dress a chic look, it only manages to look cheap and sleazy.
9. Paz De La Huerta
Boardwalk Empire star Paz De La Huerta sauntered around the streets of Manhattan in a very sheer maxi dress. The flowing black dress had ruching in front and at the back. The sheerness and pattern of the dress highlighted the actress??? ample bottom. From the looks of it, it appears that she is wearing nothing underneath the sheer dress. Considering the fact that it is sunny in New York and the roads are bound to be filled with families, the lady should have shown a little more modesty before walking out into the streets.
