Making a salt scrub at home is one of the easiest things to do for enhancing your beauty. It exfoliates your skin, cleans the pores, so that your skin can breathe and removes dead skin to give a nice natural glow to your skin. So, let’s find out how easily you can make a salt scrub at your home. Here’s a simple guide to help you out.
Complexity Level: Basic
Time Required: 10-15 minutes
Resources Required:
- A salt of your choice (sea salt/kosher salt/epsom salt/table salt)
- A massage oil of your choice (olive oil/grapeseed oil/flaxseed oil/almond oil/coconut oil/jojoba oil etc)
- 2-3 drops of Essential oil
- 1 glass jar with an air tight container
- 2 drops of food color
Instructions:
1. Clean a glass jar
Take a glass jar which has an air tight lid. Clean the jar thoroughly from the inside with a dry microfiber cloth to remove any dust or dirt inside it.
2. Select a salt
You have a choice of selecting the salt you want to make a scrub of. You can select the most commonly available table salt which is fine in texture and low in price. You would not have to crush the salt and it would dissolve easily in the oil. Sea salt is good for cleansing the body and epsom salt is known to relax the skin and muscles. Now take a large tablespoon of salt and put it in the jar. Shake the jar so the salt sits evenly at the bottom of the jar.
3. Select an oil
You can pick the oil of your choice and what you would like to scrub on your skin. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer while olive oil is known to strengthen bones and bring a glow to skin. You can even choose oils meant for cooking and which are easily available in your house. Once you have the oil, pour it slowly over the salt inside the jar. Fill the jar unto its 2/3rd capacity. Stir the oil until the salt starts to dissolve in the oil.
4. Essential oils
To give an essence and good odor to the scrub you have created, add 2-3 drops of essential oils in the jar. You can choose from flavors like vanilla, rose, peppermint, lavender or orange. There are many flavors and extracts available in the market. You can select the one which you like and the smell of which will help relax your nerves. Mix all this very well. Add a food color to the scrub if you want a colorful scrub.
5. Use the scrub
Keep this jar of scrub in your bathroom and use it on your elbows, knees, hands and whole body before you take a bath. Apply the scrub in circular motion on your body to get optimum results.
