Hershey Chocolates, new name in the food contamination row

Following a string of vegetable contaminations is the latest contamination of the most popular Hershey chocolates in Canada. The reported contamination sourced from the chocolates produced at the Smiths Falls, Ontario, factory between Oct.15 and Nov. 10, with packaged from 6417 to 6455, including chocolate bars, chocolate chips, Oh Henry! bars, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and Cherry Blossom sweets.

However, no investigation has been carried out to know the type of contamination, the stage at which the chocolates were contaminated and for that matter, the contaminated chocolates distributed before the declaration of contamination.

Apparently, the consumers are alerted with respect to the checking of bar codes before making purchases of the gourmet chocolates. What shocks at this stage is that food contamination is spreading like an epidemic in the food industry and if FDA does not take strict action, consumers might start pulling themselves away from many reliable food products, along with witnessing a string of food-borne illnesses due to the carelessness of the food manufacturers.
