The Philadelphia guys are literally going to freak out this Februray with The Eleventh Annual Chocolate Festival, scheduled to be held on February 4th and 5th, from 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the at the Blue Cross River Rink at Penn’s Landing, Columbus Boulevard at Market Street.

The Chocolate Festival will give the rare treat of freshly made chocolate to the visitors as the chefs will be giving live demos of chocolate cooking and the visitors will get a chance of chocolate tasting. On February 4, Charlie Schmidt of Philadelphia OIC will give a chocolate cooking demo at 2 p.m; and on February 5th, Jemal Edwards of Brulee will be giving chocolate cooking demos as the “Dessert Experience” for Brulee. The Dessert Experience rolls out the desserts in 3 classic courses namely Amuse Sucree (chef’s daily sweet surprise), Entree (the main dessert selected from the menu), and Petit Fours (the finale to your dessert experience). The Chocolate Festival also announces contests like chocolate chip-cookie eating, stacking cupcakes, guessing the flavor of the chocolate dip.

The Chocolate Festival “offers” will stay until the Valentine’s Day and even later as it will be getting chocolate kiss cards ready just on time. The chocolate kiss cards, will have your chocolate smeared kisses on the cards. There will be edible make and take crafts like chocolate dipping spoons, with which they will be scooping out mint, vanilla, orange and cherry.

The local chocolate vendors will also get encouragement as they will be displaying their chocolate gift baskets and chocolate covered treats. It has gone beyond to do off-beat stuff like Valentine-themed chocolate painting, skating; and chocolate screenings, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be shown on 4th and 5th. I wish they skate and paint chocolate as the two days will take the visitors in a chocolate forted land with chocolate all around
