Flowers Bottled Water 2006 Fish Tea Cook-off district competition

trbnvnFish Tea!!!!Wow! I am not still not on with my Weird food Series, but I am going to tell you about the The Digicel East End surf challenge and the Fish Tea. Well let us not start having ideas about it from now. Cooks from al over the Cayman Islands will be gathering on 23rd January to participate in the Flowers Bottled Water 2006 Fish Tea Cook-off district competition.

Fish tea is not that tough to prepare as it involves boiling all the ingredients like yam, pumpkin, cassava, potatoes and bottlers to one point until they form a soupy consistency. To this is added 15 pounds of fish and then is seasoned with a follow up of other vegetables and then finished with coconut milk. This tea takes three to four hours and has to be stirred continuously to avoid it from sticking at the bottom.

The fish tea is the most exotic tea, and yes the addition of root vegetables seem a little weird to me. The root vegetables make it completely different from fish soup and stews…that is the Jamaican secret and may be the secret of the best cook of the fish tea in the Flowers Bottled Water 2006 Fish Tea Cook-off district competition.
