South Africa made their place safe in the Super Eights with 59-run win over Afghanistan in their final World Twenty20 group match in Barbados West Indies. In fact, Afghanistan captian Nawroz Mangal, made the right decision to bowl first in a semi pitch after winning the toss. The newly entered team in 20 World cup bowled well to confine south Africa to 139-7, Jacques Kallis remained top-scorer with 34, meanwhile fast boweler Hamid Hassan picking an outstanding 3-21. It seemed that Afghanistan will make an upset. However, hopes of causing an upset were soon over after they slumped to 12-5 in the fourth over by Morne Morkel (left) produced an inspired spell of fast bowling. Unfortuntely, Afghanistan batting line up failed to face pace bowelers of south Africa. This was a wonderful experience for Afghanistan cricket team, as said by experts that Afghanistan cricket team has bright future. Many good things were oberved during this big tournment in Afghan cricket team, for example team unity, winning and fighting sprit and confidence at its high level. Consequently, they performed wonderfully in this big event as they didn’t have experience of such pitch conditions. Secondly, in their group they confronted two experienced and strong sites as South Africa and India, but they gave both team some tough times in many areas. Now ICC should give them some more opportunities in 50 hours matches because compared with some other team in south Asia they enhanced in short time and gained place in 20 World cup which is a big and mega event. South African go through to Group E of the Super Eights, where they will face England, Pakistan and New Zealand, consequently, Afghanistan returned home with their heads high.
