Followed by fruits grabbing the top position in flavor trends, a statistics provided by the NPD Snacking Report shows that fruits have also made it to the top position in the snacking category. Fresh fruit stand to be the most eaten snack in Canada, followed by chocolates, yogurt and potato chips in the second, third and fourth position respectively.

The survey conducted on the weekly food intake by 3000 people for the year 2005-2006 showed that 20 percent loved to munch on their favorite fruits, while seven percent ate into cookies, yogurt and chocolates with only six percent bagging a packet of potato chips.

What can be derived out of it is as simple as questioning the nutritionists with their facts about obesity in America, suing fast food chains for selling junk and going about banning the food choices of people.

If fresh fruit is something that has topped snacking trends then it is high time that food manufacturers and the culinary sector get busy with giving more of sugar-free granola, nuts and fresh fruit convenience or fruits rolled into comfort foods to consumers and diners.
