Blue River Dairy picks up four awards

cheese pecorinoThe Blue River Dairy in New Zealand was awarded for the unique promotion of cheese made from the milk of sheep. As per reports the dairy had entered six cheeses in the New Zealand Cuisine Champions of Cheese Awards held in Auckland, amongst which the traditional cheese of Cyprus called as Halloumi got silver, two mild and matured feta cheese, called as Tussock Creek won the bronze along with Curio Bay Pecorino.

This recognition was big in itself as it was the dairy’s first attempt to make these cheeses and as per Cheesemaker Wayne Robertson:

It’s more than significant. These(entered)six cheeses that we made; we had never made them before.

It is a very difficult to master the cheese of one’s own country, but this cheese maker attempted a Cyprus cheese and tried other cheese from sheep’s milk.
