Bottled water more expensive than petrol?

bottledwater1 2112Nature has provided us with sufficient water free of cost – and still people end up paying for it. What’s more, bottled water is more expensive than fruit juices and flavored milk.

A survey was conducted by Consumer’s Association of Ireland (CAI) which compared thirty two bottled waters in the market with prices ranging from 22 cents to 2 Euros. It was found that flavoured waters and those that were marketed as fat-free or sugar-free were more expensive than a litre of petrol.

Check out some of the costs:
Coolwater Orange & Peach Cleanse claims to offer

delicious Irish Spring Water with a combination of complex and simple carbohydrates that will stabilize your energy level, aid in liver cleansing functions and rehydrate your body all at the same time.

2.18 Euros/litre.
Coolwater Cranberry Trim claims to offer

refreshingly delicious Irish spring water with an all natural additive, Appetrim that can help suppress your appetite for three hours and allows you to maintain control in your caloric intake.

2.18 euros/litre

Compare this with fizzy drinks, milk and orange juice; they cost 91c a litre, 90c a carton and €1.39 per litre respectively. The cost of petrol is currently approximately €1.05 a litre. This means that water brands like Coolwater Orange & Peach Cleanse is twice as expensive as oil.

When you drink enough quantity of water it is natural that the appetite is suppressed and the system gets cleansed; I fail to understand why people should be paying more for the these properties which are present in water naturally. In another research it was also found bottled water was not any better than tap water, consumers should think before buying such products and stop getting duped from such companies.
