Camel’s Milk – New formulation in Austrian chocolates

milk chocolatesCamel’s milk was a meal in itself for the nomads and was considered good for the liver. Camel milk being healthy is used in the manufacture of various food products like soft cheese, flavored milk, fermented milk, camel tea and coffee. For similar health reasons, it took six months for the Vienna-based Chocolatier Hochleitner has joined hands with Al Ain Camel Farm and Dairy to create a new chocolate- milk delicacy – chocolate made out of camel milk.

Hochleitner combined camel’s milk with honey from Yemen, to manufacture the health chocolate. The first few chocolates were made in Vienna and large-scale manufacture of the chocolates will begin in June 2006 with milk drawn from 2000 camels. The chocolate plant will be manufacturing 50 tons of camel chocolate per month.

The chocolates might be having sophisticated infusions as they are targeted towards wealthy customers, in Abu-Dhabi and Dubai…so we can expect expensive camel-blend.
