CocoaVia: New Cocoa Drink blends flavonols to perk up your heart

cocoaviaIn 2006 there might be a few products on the shelf that does not promise to pamper you health and surprisingly chocolates have occupied the first position in the health foods category. Even in the case of a newly launched cocoa drink, cocoa has been formulated to come again with its flavonols. CocoaVia is manufactured by Masterfoods (the makers of Mars confectionery).

CocoaVia as interpreted by the Harvard Heart Letter is not a health food, as two servings the cocoa drink can give the heart the required amount of sterols and flavonols, and two servings brings along with it 200 calories and 36% of the daily recommended limit for saturated fat.

But the Harvard Heart Letter missed out the very purpose of this product, which is not to replace the daily diet of fruits and vegetables, but to top up the amount of antioxidants in the body. CocoaVia has many health benefits coming from its antioxidant properties, which includes blood clotting, dilated arteries, cholesterol oxidation. Moreover, Cocoa is known as a health drink since the time the Catholic Hierarchy used the chocolate drink as a medicine.

CocoaVia comes in 100mg and 85mg bottles and the 100mg bottle contains more antioxidants than the 85mg one. The point here is that the manufacturer is not giving tasting notes through the cocoa drink, but is giving you what he could by tapping all the flavonols and sterols from the cocoa beans to perk up your heart.
