Cream Cheese bags silver in World Championship Cheese Contest

chesyuWe all know about the big slice of cake taken by the Italian cheese-maker in the World Championship Cheese Contest in Wisconsin, but the silver was taken by Cream Cheese from Fonterra’s Te Rapa. It scored 97.55 points less than half point from the gold medalist. Fonterra’s Te Rapa in a MNC dairy industry, which is headed by owned by 13,000 New Zealand supplier shareholders. The total production of the dairy industry is 14.6 billion litres of milk in the year 2003-2004 and success after such a mammoth production was well-deserved.

The noteworthy thing is that US being the home of Cream cheese left with empty hands whereas the Kiwis got the silver. As per Fonterra Te Rapa cream products process manager Dave Waterman:

The United States is the home of cream cheese and for Fonterra to sneak silver out from under the noses of their hosts is “very pleasing.”
