Here is good news for chocolate-guzzlers as dark chocolate has been found good for the arteries by facilitating blood flow.
The credit to bring out this sweet news goes to the researchers from the Yale University. Before propounding this view, these researchers took 45 people under supervision and they were randomly assigned to three consumption groups. For six weeks, these members received daily eight ounces of either cocoa without sugar, cocoa with sugar, or placebo. Finally, researchers concluded that cocoa was most successful in improving endothelial function in this trial.
Giving the reason behind this, these researchers, stated that cocoa contains flavonoids-a group of antioxidants compounds found in fruit and vegetables, which is known for preventing cardiovascular diseases. Interestingly, some other products also carry flavonoids which shows that there are some other products too that could help staving off cardiovascular diseases. In the words of this study:
Studies indicated there is a strong correlation between the consumption of foods rich in flavonoids such as wine, green tea, fruit and vegetables and the fight against cardiovascular disease.
Interestingly, this is not the only benefit that comes with dark-chocolate consumption but several other benefits have also been linked to its consumption as it fights fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Moreover, chocolate has been found keeping several other health benefits too.
