Diary Crest: The first blended cheese brand ever launched

craspFlavors are getting more and more sophisticated sine day 1 of this year and as a result, most of the sectors in the food industry are going towards sophisticated products in the future. The diary industry is also striving towards flavor blends in cheese as Diary Crest, UK’s leading diary processor is going to roll out flavored cheese under the brand name “Over the Moon”. The flavor blends are kept traditional so that the consumers will be comfortable in identifying them. The blends are Wensleydale and cranberry, white stilton and apricot and double Gloucestor with chive and onion, and white stilton with lemon.

The Wensleydale and cranberry targets the female and is also a counterpart of Rosenborg Danish Blue cheese with cranberry, which is supposed to be the product manufactured by Diary crest’s rival processor Scandinavia’s Arla Foods. Thought the major portion of the cheese market in the UK is occupied by Cheddar cheese, research groups predict that blended cheese could prove to be beneficial as the cheese manufacturers are deviating from cheese recipes and their place of origin, to new blends and cheese catering everyday needs. As far as cheese is concerned there is a balance between gourmet cheese and cheese for everyday needs. The research group Mintel says that Over the Moon is made from “territorial cheese”, whose value has grown by 28 percent since 2000.

Over the Moon cheese blend will be appreciated but the traditional cheddar will have its own charm in the cheese market and on the breakfast tables.
