Nagoya City University professor Shinkan Tokudome revealed in a research that colon polyps patients on a three month-diet of fish, showed reduced tendencies of polyps turning cancerous, than the ones who were asked to reduce fats in their diets. The claims that were added along with this pointed out that a diet of fish along with proper exercises can reduce cancerous tendencies in colon polyps by half.

There is no evidence backing the claim of a fish-y Japanese diet reducing cancerous developments in colon polyps. There was another study published in Reuters, which claimed that a diet of chicken could reduce the risk of colon cancer or the development of new polyps, by 39 percent.

However, there were investigative studies by Spanish researchers on the Omega3 fatty acids and its effective prevention of colon cancer, but until now, convincing reasons have not been found. Therefore, doctors can only wait for reasons beyond the antioxidative properties of fish oils to suggest a fish diet for patients suffering from colon polyps.
