People in Peru drink a particular kind of smoothie called frog juice which has a skinned frog as the main ingredient among the other ingredients such as white bean broth, honey, raw aloe vera plant and several tablespoons of maca (an Andean root).
It is sold up to 50 customers each day at a local bus stop restaurant (countertop-only restaurant in eastern Lima) run by Carmen Gonzalez. The juice is believed to have the power to cure asthma, bronchitis, sluggishness and a low sex drive. The juice is also known as Peruvian Viagra and is sold for about 90 cents. It is a starchy, milkshake-like liquid that stings the throat.
Many people treat the frog juice as their morning and afternoon cup of coffee. They believe that the concoction gives power.
