Africa: Somalia, Mozambique, Kenya
Fruit Salad constitutes a very significant place in the African desserts, where fruits if eaten are eaten only in form of fruit salads. Fruit salad is treated in different ways in both Western and Eastern Africa. In Western Africa they go chop-chop with the fruits after a sumptuous meal of groundnut stew and palm oil chop and in Eastern Africa, the Swahilis call it as Saladi ya Matunda, where the fruits are simply chopped and tossed with sugar.
But there is an elaborate way of making it with avocado as the main fruit and this is tossed with other fruits and what surprises me is that it is fused with greens like spinach, lettuce and other salad plants. The finale comes with whipped cream, honey and vegetable coloring.
Ever single fruit is given a different shape and some of them are treated with mayonnaise and lemon juice. Well, Africa is known for its wide variety of fruits and Africans know to extract the goodness out of them and present them to catch appeal.
