Greek Cuisine: A Convergene of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisines

Greek Cuisine has lot of similarities with the Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. This exotic cuisine comprises vegetables like tomatoes, eggplant, okra, potatoes, green beans, and onions.

The appetizers include Meze, from the Turkish cuisine, dips from the Mexican cuisine and pita bread from the Ethiopian cuisine. The unique appetizers of the Greek cuisine include vegetables and meats wrapped in filo pastry. The filo pastries consist of spinach, cheese, chicken and ground meat. Taramosalata, their favorite appetizer is fish roe blended with boiled potatoes and breadcrumbs, Saganaki is fried cheese, Dolmades grapevines is again an adaptation of Turkish dolmas, which is grape leaves stuffed with meat, rice, and vegetables. Avgolemono soup is a heavy casserole of chicken, vegetables, fish and is thickened with rice, lemon, and eggs. Greek salad is made of tomatoes, cucumber, onion, green peppers, garnished with feta cheese and olives; dressed with olive oil and oregano.

The unique dish of Greece, is Moussaka, which is a casserole of eggplants, ground meat, pork, herbs and cheese, Kleftiko is lamb grilled in lemon juice and garlic another variation of the same is Stifado with beef substituted for lamb, Sovlaki is much like the Turkish kebabs with meat and vegetables grilled on skewers, gyros is the most famous junk food roasted on splits, Baklava is a famous Turkish dessert, Loukoumas is apastry crusted with honey and cinnamon and Lokum is made from starch and sugar, which is flavored with rosewater and lemon.
