A Mexican matador before thousands of fans, scared to death as he stared down a charging bull, made a frightened leap over the arena wall to safety. People around the world are now are calling this man a coward, a chicken. I on the other hand commend him.
It’s not every man who would choose to make a living wearing short jackets, flashy leotards, and funny hats much less while running around taunting nearly a ton of sleep deprived, pissed off bull. That on it’s own takes some pretty big huevos, but deciding to walk away from it all, literally, takes an even larger set of cajones.
Christian Hernandez, the 22-year-old terrified toreador, made no attempt to make excuses.
“There are some things you must be aware of about yourself,” I didn’t have the ability, I didn’t have the balls, this is not my thing.”
Decked out in a glittery gold and pink skintight costume, Hernandez, who had previously been gored in the leg month back, waved his cape, then froze briefly before dashing to safety.
He returned to the ring only to find his fans mocking him, then left again, for good.
To make matters worse, he was arrested for breaking his contract, though he paid a fine and was released.
Unsurprisingly, Hernandez later announced his immediate retirement.
