King-sized menu names offer contrary foodsizes

cafe latteEatery chains find it simpler to attract customers by exaggerating names of trifle items on the menu card, thereby making them appear larger than the portion of ingredients in the foodstuff. This trend is lately reported to be taken-up by the coffee giants who do not find the absurdity of calling a small cup of latte as tall and then going for virtually increasing the portion size of the beverages on the menu card with grand for medium latte and venti for a large latte. Similar is the marketing ploy by the ice cream of other eateries like Cold Stone Creamery, McDonalds and Dairy Queen to name a few.

The reason to bring this ploy of the eatery chains to the consumers is to make them aware of the extra price that they are paying for king-sized names, containing half the quantity than they actually claim. It is high time that eatery chains who are in the midst of so many trials do not cram up the menu cards with ornamental jargons but with transparent nutrition labels. The cautious consumer will be appealed by an interesting nutrition profile rather than some cheap trick played on the name of foodstuffs, only to discover the trick after the food is served.
