Lenten Season: Meat seller’s ‘Trash’… Seafood Seller’s ‘Treasure’

seafood cocktailIf Lenten season is trash for the chicken-joints it is treasure for the seafood-joint. In the Lenten season the Roman Catholics withdraw themselves from eating meat. Report shows that those who cannot just afford to be ‘vegetative’ in the Lenten season manage the whole season with seafood and they love it too. An illustration from Marcus Carter’s, B&B Fish and Barbecue in Rancho Cucamonga shows that during the Lenten season his business experiences a 20 percent to 30 percent increase in business on Fridays and same is the case with Little Fisherman Seafoods in Redlands. The feature shows that the restaurants order a double load of fish on Fridays.

Lenore Vlasic, vice president of marketing for the Market Broiler Management Co. said:

The promotion, which includes snow crab, filet of mahi mahi with scampi on top and a shrimp skewer, began on Ash Wednesday. If it’s got snow crab, people come running. You won’t see any meat specials, or anything having to do with steak during this period of time. This proves that those who go through the Lenten Season’s ‘repentance’ get to have seafood treat every Friday…so what if there is no meat on the plate, there are fish bones.
