Little Master – Sachin Tendulkar back with a bang in the first test against Australia

Sachin Tendulkar was his old best in the first test match against Australia and this he showed by hitting an unbeaten half century as the Indian team recovered from the jolts the team had to suffer.

Sachin Tendulkar, the veteran Indian player displayed decisive frame of mind and hit an unbeaten half century. The team ended the day at 182 for three on the second day of the test match against Australia.

The match is being played at the MA Chidambrum Stadium in Chennai, which also happens to be the home ground of R Ashwin. The Chennai all rounder too had a field day and has displayed his career best spell of seven wickets in the test match.

Though India is trailing by 198 runs in the test match, the unbeatable 71 by Sachin Tendulkar has given the team a glimmer of hope that the team will be able to defend the test match and come up with a match winning performance.

Sachin Tendulkar displayed poise in his batting and has so far added 77 runs for the fourth wicket with Virat Kohli who is also batting at unbeaten 50. Incidentally, this was the 67th half century by Sachin Tendulkar. The little master hit another milestone by surpassing the 7000 runs mark during this test match.

The day opened with a disastrous start for India as the opener Virendar Sehwag could only add 10 runs with Murali Vijay adding only a pathetic 2. This brought Sachin Tenulkar to the crease and the Indian all rounder had a 93 run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara. This counter attack by both the players unsettled the Aussie bowlers who seemed to go off track with the poise and elegance displayed by Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar showed his class with two glorious fours that he hit in succession to the first two balls that he faced from Pattinson. If that was not enough, Sachin hit another four off the fourth ball, thus making his intentions clear to all.

After the dismal start by Virendar Sehwag and Murali Vijay, Sachin Tendulkar and Cheteshwar Pujara took over and brought up the score to 50 by the 13th over. Though slow in approach, the duo kept the scoreboard ticking and laid the foundation for a big total. The duo completed the half-century stand in 68 deliveries thus rescuing India from a potential crash.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s departure brought an out of form Virat Kohli to the crease. However, the Delhi all rounder left his failures behind to add valuable 50 along with Sachin Tendulkar, thus taking the Indian team to 182 for 3 before the play was called off for the day.

Everyone including critics of the legendary little master were waiting for an elegant performance from him and Sachin has displayed his elegance and command of the game by letting the bat do all the talking with an unbeaten half century.

It is a night’s wait before the legendary all rounder will be back in the field to add some more valuable runs to the total and complete another of his century.
