The Veggies all over have planned to boycott Mars bars. The reason being that the bar now includes animal products. Not only the consumption of Mars bar, but the other products of the same company like, Snickers, Galaxy, Twix, Bounty, Milky Way, Maltesers and Minstrels have also been affected.
The chocolate manufacture has lately induced rennet – an enzyme from the stomachs of newborn calves in its products. Previously it was using a more expensive but vegetarian option in the place of Rennet.
The spokesman of Vegetarian Society, Liz O’Neill said, “People will not like the idea that you cannot make a Mars bar without killing a calf. We have had no good, clear answer from Masterfoods why they have to use animal products when all these items were previously produced using vegetarian alternatives. But we can no longer describe any of them as suitable for vegetarians.”
