Med diet can better heart-health with proper prognosis

med diet

A new research conducted by the Greek Study of Acute Coronary Syndrome reported about the heart-healthy element in Mediterranean foods.

The reason behind the effectiveness of Mediteranean diet is the incorporation olive oil, vegetables, fruits and seafood in plenty. Resources provide that the equipment, which was used to measure the effectiveness of med diet on the patients suffering from coronary heart disease (CHD), was a 156-item questionnaire on med diet, which corresponded to a 55-point scale of scoring. Those patients who were on a higher scale were less severed by CHD.

To quote lead author Demosthenes Panagiotakos from Harokopio University in Athens:

A five-unit increase in diet score [increased adherence to the Med diet] was associated with 15 per cent lower odds of having MI, after controlling for confounders.

While positive results of this study could be found, a combination of prognosis and the state of the CHD of a patient should be analyzed at the same time for better results. As for those who are switching over to a med diet, need to continue with the diet to confirm with the benefits of the diet.
