Mediterranean food festival to celebrate Mediterranean Culinary Culture

med foodThe Mediterranean Food Festival will be organized by Ministry for Tourism and Culture in association with the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) and the Eden Leisure Group at the Eden Arena, St Julian’s from 2nd-5th March 2006 and again from 10th-12th March 2006. This Food Festival will bring you the taste of Mediterranean and Maltese Cuisine and Malta will be transformed into a village lot to create an ambience for you to feel the Mediterranean and Maltese culture. The food festival will be a conglomeration of ten Mediterranean countries including Morocco; Italy; France; Spain; Turkey; Cyprus, Libya, Lebanon and Greece. There will be one foreign participant, whose name is Ainsley Harriott, personality chef of Ready Steady Cook which is televised on BBC, from the UK who will be cooking regional Mediterranean dishes and beverages like the others.

The food festival will cover both Mediterranean music and food, cooking with Ainsley, and for the development of the catering industry it will have classes separately for the catering industry and the amateur, who will be participating in separate Culinary Marathons in the first two weekends. The event holds a package for children and they will be taught to make pastries in those classes. The entrance fee will be Adults Lm 1.00 and Children (3 yrs – 12 yrs) 50c and there will be display of an array of beverages of Malta and the Mediterranean food. This food festival displays regional food on grand scale.
