John Schiltz of the Lake Elmo Inn was awarded 2005 Restaurateur of the Year and Appert’s Foodservice of St. Cloud got the award for the Allied Vendor of the Year. They were awarded by Minnesota Restaurant Association and they will be getting their awards in Creme de la Creme, which will take place on 20th, February 2006.
John Schiltz started his career as a dishwasher and a cook, from where he took a flight to the Executive Sous Chef in Hyatt Minneapolis and then he was promoted to Executive Chef at the Hyatt in Des Moines and from Minneapolis his desire to experiment with the culinary industry brought him back to Minneapolis. In Minneapolis he had been running a restaurant that he had purchased from his previous boss and since then this restaurateur had been putting his heart and soul into the development of his restaurant and today, it is more than a success. Appert’s Foodservice has also expanded commendably from grocery store to meat plant and from meat plant to a food chain11, 11,000 meat processed products.
It is a really commendable thing that age-old contribution and dedication for the development of food retailing and culinary sector is honored.
