Needless to say that FDA has passed a petition to dish out trans fats from American foods. In response to this petition many food manufacturers have dished trans fats from their foods. Recently after Frito Lay announced a partial ban on trans fats, Panera Bread is launching a complete removal of trans fats from its menu. Panera will be launching its modified products by February 2006 with claims of maintaining the same flavor sans trans fats. Panera Bread has worked in alliance with Saint Louis University’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics to evaluate the levels of trans fats of in its menu, followed with a collaboration of suppliers to provide them with healthy alternatives to trans fats. The alternatives include palm oil, butter and other vegetable oils.
Well I am not doubtful of the reformulated products of Panera Bread as there are impressive benefits of palm oil in reducing blood clot, cholesterol, high in antioxidants and butter with its providence of vitamins, minerals and healthy fatty acids. Panera bread will create the magic with its specialty bread and cafe products.
