In his war against fast food, Prince Charles during a visit to the United Arab Emirates said that banning fast food cafes and restaurants, especially McDonald’s, was crucial for improving people’s diets.

Talking to Nadi Tiara, nutritionist in Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi, he said:

Have you got anywhere with McDonald’s? Have you tried getting it banned? That’s the key.

His comments were made clear as he attended the launch of a public health awareness campaign.

The Prince of Wales has for a long time advocated the importance of a balanced diet, especially for children. He is an active advocate of organic food and in 1986 set up a farm on his Highgrove Estate that does not use artificial pesticides or fertilizers.

From the MacDonald’s end, the news was found disappointing. The ills of the western world are evident in increased obesity in many developed and affluent countries. The threat in many cases has been found to be food.
