Latino actresses have always enticed us with their ‘I can die for’ figure, luscious lips, breathtaking eyes and oomph factor. But, according to what Salma Hayek believes, actresses from Latin America were not taken on seriously by Hollywood until she and Jennifer Lopez arrived on the scene.
This might well be true as beauties from South America were mostly seen in ‘i-blink-and-you-miss’ roles in Hollywood movies. The length of their roles would be small and they portray characters of either prostitutes or maids. However, Hollywood has definitely changed their perception of these actresses and Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez make very good example.
Salma Hayek, the Mexican-born actress, who turned 40 last September, went on to act in more than thirty films in Hollywood. Her production, Frida released in 2002 is one of her most memorable films and she had an Academy Award nomination for it. She worked in movies like Desperado, Wild Wild West, Once upon a time in Mexico among others.
Jennifer Lopez, 37, popularly nicknamed J.LO, arrived in Hollywood around the same time Hayek did. A multi-talented personality, she is a Golden Globe nominated actress and Grammy award nominated singer. Her popular albums include, On the 6, J.Lo and Rebirth. As an actress, she has done movies like The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan and Angel Eyes.
