A ‘honeypot gang’, which is exclusively targeting the married men in South Korea, has become the matter of concern for the local police.
According to the police working in the Chungcheong Province, a group of criminals has been carrying out several ‘honeypot’ activities in that region since last few months. It is basically luring males, who are already married, to do sexual acts with female members of the gang and blackmailing them right after that.
Each day, a number of such cases are coming to police where female members of the gang intimidated and pressurized the men by saying that they would bring rape charges against them if they do not pay for it.
In a certain case, the woman even went to the police and lodged a complaint when the men associated with the incident became unable to pay her for it.
The incident took place on the Eve of the New Year when 30-year old Mr. Lim met Ms. Jeon at a bar and headed for a motel with her after some times. After sleeping with him, Ms. Jeon brought rape charge against Mr. Lim and claimed a recompense of as much as $5,400 or ₩6 million which the man paid to her.
But it could not stop her. After getting the money, she demanded an additional amount of $90,000 or ₩100 million. Moreover, she terrorized him that if he does not pay her, she would be going to call the police.
The threat turned out to be fatal for Mr. Lim as he met a brain hemorrhage on 13th of January. Even after going through a surgery, he is in a comatose state.
This particular case has helped the Chungcheong police to investigate into the gang to some extent, and they have detained five persons having connection with the incident till now.
Those five individuals were arrested by the police on 20th May. Two of them are males while rest is females.
As per the report, all of them are indicted of forcing at least 3 married men for paying an accumulated amount of $38,700 or around ₩43 million throughout the month of December. The report revealed by the police contains the details of how the plans were made and how those were accomplished.
However, the character as well as the sense of responsibility of the sufferer men is being put under the question mark after these occurrences.
