Yam is very fondly eaten in most parts of India in the summer season.
My favorite Yam or Arbi dish is Jeera Arbi aka Yam cooked with cumin.
The recipe is as follows:
Ingredients
Sliced Yam
Cumin Seeds
Green Chilies
Whole Gingers
Whole Red Chilies
Cinnamon Powder
Salt
Oil
Method
1. Roaast cumin seeds. Make a paste of cumin seeds, green chilies and ginger.
2. In a wok heat oil and add whole red chilies. To this add the cumin, green chilies and ginger paste.
3. Cook it for sometime. Add yams and water.
4. Cook it covered until tender and season it with cinnamon powder and salt.
5. Simmer until the moisture dries out.
