If you are a traditional whisky drinker you do not have to give yuck! This Strawberry Kiss whisky liqueur created by Norman Brown and his colleague John Smith is made from a single malt 14-year-old Speyside whisky. For eight months both the businessmen tried mixed the liquor with 26 different combinations, until they were struck down by the Strawberry kiss. According to the 40 experts who have tasted the whisky all found the drink to be unlike its color, has a spicy hiss.
This whisky is aiming upscale stores like Harvey Nichols, Jenners and the Whisky Shop, which has branches on Princes Street and Victoria Street. Dr Bill Lumsden, Master Distiller at Glenmorangie who was one of the tasters said:
I quite liked it and normally I don’t have a penchant for sweet things like that. This drink isn’t too sweet or cloying as I expected it might be when I saw the color.
The traditional whisky drinkers should have recollected the pink whisky of the past Bruichladdich’s 20 year old ‘pink’ whisky. Strawberry Kiss whisky liqueur was created to cater to the younger female drinkers, but ironically they were the ones who did not like the drink.
