Have you missed your morning cup of tea and are feeling quite drowsy? How you wish you could have had that cup of tea, only if it had not been for time constraints you were faced with. Then worry not, for all those people who do not find the time to even brew a cup of tea for themselves, two tea-based products have been developed.

A four-member team of Indian scientists in Assam, the tea manufacturing hot spot of India has come up with a chew able tea pill and a fizzy tea drink. The scientists have already patented these two inventive products. They are hopeful that these two products will be as stimulating as a cup of freshly brewed tea.

Mridul Hazarika, one of the members of the team of Indian scientists at the Tocklai Experimental Station in Jorhat says,

“The pill is absolutely safe and can be chewed or placed under the tongue, besides drinking in the conventional manner by dipping the tablet in a cup of hot water. The drink is made from pure natural tea extracts having a lot of medicinal properties in them.”

The drink is expected to be available in two forms – green as well as black. The cost of production for the pill will be half a rupee while that of the tea-cola is expected to be ten rupees a litre.

Although the products were developed about two years ago, they will be marketed now, since the scientists were busy seeking patenting rights for their tea-based products. With the patents granted, the products are slated for launch in Assam first, after which they will be launched in the world markets. These one of a kind tea-based products have attracted the attention of firms from Iran, Britain and Australia who wish to market them.

How far these new products meet with success remains to be seen. However, for the time being tea enthusiasts have two new ways of enjoying their favorite beverage to look forward to.
