Responding to a study on the hydrating benefits of tea, published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, nutritionist Dr Carrie Ruxton, and colleagues at Kings College London, have gone on to claim that tea is not only a healthy beverage, but is healthier than water. Facts provided by them confer about the polyphenol and fluoride content in tea, emphasizing on increasing the intake of tea to 3 cups daily a result of which would reduce risks of a heart attack and cancerous growth.

No doubts about the health benefits of tea, but as far as comparison with water is concerned, it not only qualifies for more number of healthy benefits, but also stands to be the only fluid that hydrates better than any liquid. On the other hand, tea acts as a diuretic, which causes kidneys to pull more water out of your bloodstream. With addition of milk and sugar to this beverage the rate of water absorption is reduced further. The latter part of the research by Ruxton can be considered as a passing claim for the very reason that water more than being healthy stands for everything that makes beverage a necessity.
