Teen Chef Competition promotes budding culinary talent

teen chefThe Best Teen Chef competition 2006, conducted by the Art Institutes in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is going to take-off on 29th April, 2006 with 20 competitors from all over North America. This competition will feature the culinary talents of High school seniors, where the most talented teen chef will receive a scholarship worth $200,000 to study culinary arts in The Art institute along with the title of the Best Teen Chef of the year 2006.

The selected finalists will have to cook up regional Florida menu consisting of Gulf Shrimp Martini with Floribbean Slaw, Tomato Salad with Avocado and Sherry-Chili Vinaigrette; “Creative” style Sauteed Fillet of Fresh Fish. The event involves strict discipline and hard work as the teen chefs will be monitored by the master chefs as the teeny ones cook up from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The teen chefs will be judged by Chef Director Klaus D. Friedenreich of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Chef Walter Scheib, a former White House chef from 1994 to 2005, Chef Raimund Hofmeister and Chef Walter Leible. As per Chef Michael Nenes, Assistant Vice President of Culinary Arts for The Art Institutes:

Over the last several years, we’ve seen an explosion in interest among young teens in the culinary arts, and much of this is because of the popularity of cooking shows on television.

The sole motive of the show is to encourage the kids to recognize their culinary talent and the Art Institutes takes responsibility of coaching the teen chefs to help them achieve their target in the culinary industry.
