The fifth Saanich’s annual European Wine and Food Festival will be conducted from Feb. 4, from 7-9 p.m., at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre (3220 Cedar Hill Rd.). The news does not end here, this gourmet food and wine festival is the most awaited event of the year and like previous years all the tickets, worth $45, are expected to sell out before the event starts. The event is also the time to educate the budding wine and food connoisseurs, as the organizers have invited 10 specialty food outlets and a couple of wine suppliers. Wines from Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Eastern Europe will be incorporated in foods to teach the local chefs the art of food pairing.
The wines and foods offered at the festival will be offered at an extra $5 per sample and the proceeds from the food and wine tasting will go to the Saanich Volunteer Services Society.
