Salads in winters often makes a diner go searching for vegetables, but an article in the Washington Times points out that winter staples like beans, spinach, iceberg, lettuce, brussels sprouts and bell peppers can make hearty salads. Some of the tips to make denser winter salads are as follows:
1. Leftover carrots and beans from previous day’s mutton stew.
2. Crisp lettuce, red cabbage and boiled chickpeas.
3. Canned beans with caramelized onions and a dash of parsley.
4. Leftover rice with shredded red bell pepper and spinach.
5. Leftover lamb roast with asparagus.
6. Brussel sprouts, boiled potatoes, caramelized onions tossed salt and pepper.
