Two-piece inspired dresses rule the SAG Awards? red carpet

The annual awards season is finally blooming. The Golden Globes are usually seen as the season?s kick-off event where stars dabble with looks that would help them get enough publicity to get them in the ?one?s to watch? list by the time the Oscars roll into town. This makes events like the Screen Actors Guild Awards the perfect middle ground where starlets can show off a look that is less brushed up than the ones they have in store for the big season finale event.

This year, the pre-Oscars style parade included just as many million-dollar jewels, spiky heels and designer gowns that made A-list actors look appropriately sexy and exciting. Kicking off the most notable red carpet showings at the event was the striking deep navy Christian Dior number that Jennifer Lawrence wore. The super wrappy dress boasted of two distinct sections that made it look like a knee length dress worn over a wrap around skirt.

The two piece like trend was furthered by Anne Hathaway whose kinda classic Giambattista Valli features a very see through floor length skirt though the starlet looked modest enough thanks to the sparkly mid thigh bodice inside. Kerry Washington?s all-white Rodarte gown also looked like the starlet wore a corset like jacket over the floor kissing gown though it was the two-tone Christian Dior gown worn by Marion Cotillard that hit the perfect middle ground between traditional brightly colored skirt and the humble fitted bodice on the average cocktail gown.

Prabal Gurung, who has taken the international fashion scene by storm these past few seasons, also managed to turn up at least one super spectacular offering at the SAGs with a duochrome classical looking number parades by January Jones. The perfect mix of black and white made the gown look deliciously layered which surprisingly made the thin star look curvy yet superbly lean.
