Christmas is just around the corner. The festive season is all about being with family, relishing on delicious food, and spending quality time with your loved ones. But exchanging gifts with loved ones on Christmas is definitely one of the best parts of Christmas. Nothing is more exciting than ripping open the glittery packaging. But, you get instantly disheartened when it is something useless. You are not the only one who receives useless gifts on Christmas. The situation gets pretty awkward when you have to hide your disappointment behind a broad smile to avoid their heart from breaking.
Here is what you can do with unwanted Christmas gift.
Give away to charity
Since you are not going to use it and it is going to lie around your house, you might as well give it to someone who would actually use it. Donate your unwanted gifts to charity so that someone who needs it can use it. It is definitely a better idea than leaving it in a lonesome corner of your house.
Exchange them for something you like

A great idea would be to go to the store and exchange your gift for something you actually like. However, this will only work if you receive the receipt with your present.
Exchange it with a friend

Maybe the maroon jumper does not appeal to you but your friend might really like it. You can take your unwanted gifts and switch them with your friends. You can choose something from their pile of unwanted Christmas gifts.
Sell them

If you would rather have the money instead of receiving something you don’t like, you could sell it. Take some pictures and write an advertisement online and you can sell your unwanted gifts in no time.
Repurpose them
There is always an option of making something better out of what you have. If you cannot find any use for your Christmas gifts, you can repurpose them. Make gloves or socks out of a jumper, redecorate a mug or use it to keep your paint brushes; get creative with the idea.
Gift them to someone else
You might not particularly like your gifts, but if you know someone who would actually like them, why don’t you gift it to them? Not only will you make your loved ones happy but you will also save your money on Christmas gifts.
Ask for the receipt
The person who gifted you the useless present will feel heartbroken on finding out that you don’t use their gift. Instead of letting that happen, gently tell them you would rather have something else and if they have the receipt, you can get it exchanged for something you would really enjoy.
Although it would be a bold thing to do, at least you will get something you would actually use this way.
Make something for your pet
Your pet will really appreciate a warm sweater in the chilly season. If there is some scope to turn the sweater you don’t like into a sweater for your dog, give it a try. You might be able to make something great for your beloved furry friend.
Give them to someone you don’t like
Sometimes you are obliged to give gifts to some people despite the fact that you don’t like them. Instead of wasting your time and energy in going out and buying presents for them, pick from your pile of unwanted Christmas gifts and gift it to them. This way you will get rid of your unwanted presents while making sure they serve a good purpose.
