This beer is a blend of the finest Bavarian hops of Saaz, Spalt Spalter, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, along with strains of yeast and malt. As per Jim Koch this beer is brewed over the years and the flavors of the beer improved over time. The beer was fermented beyond a level of 20 percent and therefore featured a unique range of flavors and the secret is the long-tern ageing that takes place in oak barrels, in which whisky, cognac, bourbon and port. The beer is available in antique copper-colored bottles and the current structure stands different from the structure of bottles in the past.
