World’s First Organic Chocolate ‘Bar’ opens in Seoul

A recent report says that Seoul witnesses the launch of an organic chocolate bar, which is also the first organic chocolate bar in the world. This bar is launched by Dagoba Chocolate and Cafe des Verts at Cafe des Verts Yeoksam in southern Seoul, Korea and it will be selling only “Dagoba Organic Chocolate Concept Bar”. There will be 14different Dagoba concept chocolate bars, hot chocolates and cacao nibs.

Dagoba Organic Chocolate Company was founded by Frederick Schilling in 2001and they have since then dedicated themselves to the making of chocolate using 100 percent organic products and are the first chocolate manufacturers to have got a 100 percent organic certification – Kosher and Fair Trade Certified. The cacao beans are sourced from Latin America (place where chocolate originated) and are not disinfected with methyl bromide or non-organic beans. The chocolates produced by Dagoba has 37 percent cacao and the dark chocolate has over 70 percent of cacao. Dagoba Bars include dark chocolate, white chocolate and single origin. The dark chocolate includes Lavender, Roseberry, Mon Cherri, Conacado, New Moon, Xocolatl, and Dark Eclipse with 87 percent dark chocolate, milk, Barsilia, Chai and Hazelnut. Dagoba Chocolates have got a number of awards for World’s Best Chocolate, Best Dark Chocolate and Best Organic Bars.

In the new chocolate bar the chocolate lovers will witness more variety with new organic chocolate including frozen hot chocolate, Dagoba Mocha Crunch, organic chocolate truffles, cakes and cookies and to top it all, Dagoba’s suggestions of perfect wine-pairing with each chocolate. The opening of the organic chocolate bar drew in many food industry giants including Aveda Korea CEO Reza Ansari, Red Mango CEO Roni Choo, Au Bon Pain Korea founder and CEO Jason Lee, and food directors and executive chefs from premium hotels such as Hyatt, InterContinental, Sheraton Walker Hill and Westin Chosun. The chocolate bars are expected to open in all the Cafe des Verts branches in Seoul and in two Hyundai Department stores. Dagoba’s plan to open a chocolate concept bar is sure to get it a lots of popularity and profit, especially with the sale of bars at cafes, departmental stores, major cafes and bakeries.
