Hollywood and marriages just don’t seem to go together. Every marriage seems to become the precursor for a divorce and separation. Every now and then, we keep hearing of splits, divorces and legal battles cropping up in Hollywood relationships. Like a famous comedian said, these are times when the wife tells her husband,”My children and your children are fighting with our children!” It often makes us wonder as to where the romance and love that we see on silver screen goes. It is so hard to imagine that those who romance on the screen would quarrel off it! They have shown that whatever happens in reel life can happen in real life too.
In such a dismal scenario (for marriage of course), here are 10 couples that seem to bring light not only at the end of the tunnel, but throughout the tunnel also.
1. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
They have successfully completed 23 years of married life since they tied the knot in 1988 after their meeting in 1985. With two children, they support and back each other in daily life and their careers.
2. Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito
They seem to have the longest marriage in the Hollywood history. They recently celebrated their silver jubilee. With three children, the couple is intensely private about their life and that might explain the reason for their happy marriage.
3. Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith
They met each other in 1990 during her try out for Will’s television show which was entitled, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Married since 1997, the couple do not consider divorce even as an option. They have promised each other to work hard on their careers and the marriage.
4. Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas
They are staying together for 9 years, which definitely seems like an amazing achievement for the notorious womanizer that Douglas was. Rumor credits this success to prenuptial agreement that holds Douglas due in millions for any indiscretion on his part. With two children, their marriage seems to be going strong.
5. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
Sarah has stayed with Matthew Broderick for 11 years now. Introduced to each other by Sarah’s brother and married in a synagogue, the couple had a very traditional and private married life. Their son, James Wilkie, was born in 2002.
6. Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman
They celebrated a golden jubilee before Newman sadly died. Married since 1958, they have been venerated for their tenacious marriage. Newman is quoted to have said that he would not go for the hamburger on the street when he had the steak at home.
7. Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith
Antonio met Melanie Griffith on the sets of the movie ‘Two Much’ and then married her after divorcing his first wife. The new marriage seems to have solidified with the birth of a baby girl. He has now permanently tattooed her name on to his arm (and his heart too).
8. David Arquette and Courtney Cox
They have stated that they believe in couple counseling but not in divorce. Married since 1999 but separated, they have still remained a couple with their daughter, Coco.
9. Sharon Osborne and Ozzy Osbourne
They share one of the longest marriages of music history, being with each other since 1982. Theirs is a marriage that has survived the TV series, The Osbornes, and they have a happy life with three children.
10. Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon
They starred together in a PBS movie and got married in 1988. Their marriage has been strong always and they have always worked together. They have borne two children and have had no rifts.
