2012 creates history in China

2012
The Chinese film industry now owes a hefty sum to the super-mathematicians of Mayan civilization. 2012, the John Cusack starrer based on the doomsday predictions of Mayan calender, has struck golds and diamonds at the Chinese box-office and emerged as the nation’s biggest-grossing film ever.

Contactmusic reports,

JOHN CUSACK’s disaster movie 2012 is anything but in China – it has become the nation’s biggest-grossing film ever. The end-of-the-world epic had raked in $67.3 million (GBP42 million) in China as of 23 December (09), according to national estimates, eclipsing the previous record set by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Kudos to the team of 2012 and a heartfelt salute to the Chinese moviegoers. Though we are yet to see if we are lucky enough to leap past December 21, 2012, China has already reaped the harvest that was planted by the ancient Mayan magicians.
