The exploits of the most notorious serial killers of India will send a shiver down your spine. These cold-blooded murderers killed innocent people to fulfill their psychological need to kill. Some of them had some ulterior motive, but others went on a killing spree for no justifiable reason. Till they were apprehended, they let loose a reign of terror. The Nithari killers

The Nithari case created a huge furor in the media, when the skulls of children who went missing from Nithari village were found. Surinder Koli and his employer Moninder Singh Pandher were arrested as being the probable killers.
Surinder Koli was found to be guilty of 5 murders and Pandher awaits his fate due to 11 pending cases in the same murder case. Allegations of pedophilia, cannibalism, rape and organ trafficking were made, which had some truth in them. The gory and horrific way the killers worked in tandem to kill innocent children shocked the nation to the core.
Auto Shankar
Auto Shankar, or Gowri Shankar, was involved in flesh trade and transported illegal arrack in Thiruvanmiyur. He abducted and killed 9 girls, all teenagers, and claimed he did so as he was influenced by films. He later confessed and said he had committed the murders for local politicians, as they had raped the abducted girls. He was hanged in 1995, in the Salem Prison.
Devendra Sharma

He is a classic example of intense greed leading a person to commit dastardly crimes. He was a practicing Ayurvedic doctor, who took to killing car drivers to make a quick buck. He mercilessly killed 30-40 drivers from 2002 -2004, just to sell their cars in the grey market. Rajasthan, UP and Gurgaon were his favorite hunting grounds. In 2008, he was given the death sentence.
Renuka Shinde and Seema Gavit
These two sisters were thieves who were trained to steal by their mother, Anjanabai. They started using children as decoys to help them steal, and as defence, if they were caught. During the period of 1990 -1996, they murdered more than six toddlers. In a chilling confession, they revealed that they did not even remember how many children they had killed before 1990. The ghoulish sisters are awaiting their death, and they would be the first women to be hanged in India.
Cyanide Mohan

Mohan Kumar, better known as Cyanide Mohan lured unmarried girls by proposing marriage and eloping with them. He would have sex with them the night before marriage and in the morning would give them contraceptive pills, which were actually cyanide pills, and rob them after they were dead. He killed 20 women in this manner from 2005-2009. He was awarded the death sentence in 2013 December.
Charles Sobhraj
This suave killer charmed tourists into trusting him and then killed and robbed them in order to maintain his extravagant lifestyle. He is a psychopath who killed at least 12 people, in 1976, before he was caught. He earned the nickname “Bikini killer”, as two of the women he killed were discovered wearing floral bikinis. He served a prison sentence from 1976 to 1997 in India and is serving his second life sentence in Nepal.
Thug Behram

Thug Behram is known to have killed more than 931 people from 1790-1840. He confessed to killing 125 people and claimed that he was merely present when the other murders were committed. Leader of the “Thuggee” cult that operated in central India, their modus operandi was to strangle unsuspecting victims with their “rumaal” (handkerchief). He was hanged in 1840.
Stoneman Killer
Nobody knows the identity of this mysterious killer who killed 9 people in Mumbai in 1988, by smashing in the heads of lonely pavement dwellers. He created panic situation in Mumbai, but suddenly stopped after his 9th victim. Then, in 1989, 12 people were killed in Kolkata in exactly the same manner, but here too, the killer could never be identified till today.
The heartless and calculated manner in which these serial killers murdered people is vile and monstrous, and one cannot include them in the category of human beings.
