Last week the Public Security Chief of Taretan, Michoacán was brutally murdered.
The body of Francisco Aparicio Méndez, aged 40, was left in the middle of the state highway near Patuán.
Mendez, who was originally from Uruapan, was killed in front of his wife and three young children.
The gunmen spared the lives of Mendez’s wife and young children, leaving them to bare witness as they opened fire on him with AR-15’s, destroying his head and body.
Testimonies indicate the gunmen closed in the vehicle of the police chief, forcing him to stop. After realizing what was taking place, it is said Mendez, in efforts to protect his family, got out of the truck to face his executioners.
At this time, there have been no arrests made.
