It was announced on Thursday in Led Zeppelin reunion concert in London that Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As far as Madonna’s music is concerned it is not of Rock and Roll style but it seems just because she has been a star in the industry for so long, she has been admired.
Most of her songs are well organized and adventurous and she has given a consistent performance and has the caliber to remain famous even at the age of 49.
But Madonna is a pop star with pop beats, melodies and lyrics and some of her songs can be said to be somewhat related to Rock and Roll style. Madonna’s music has a message in it and Rock and Roll fans are not interested in the message but only would like to dance at it.
It is felt recently that there has been disturbing drifts in the induction policy of the Hall and the critics have always pointed this out. In 2006, the Hall inducted Miles Davis who is a Jazz master and not a Rock and Roll star. It has been talked about that Davis is a genius when it comes to Jazz and he could be the first to be inducted if a Jazz Hall of Fame was to be introduced.
In 2007, along with Madonna, Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five are also included when both of them are of rap and hip-hop fame and not Rock and Roll fame. Seeing all this I seems that the Hall just wants to grab attention and is not interested to pay homage to the musical heritage.
